This movie is about a divorce attorney named Gaylord Stanton (Kenneth MacKenna), his pal Reggie Durant (Basil Rathbone) and two other buddies. This is a club of playboys who are enjoying the fun side of life and become convinced that marriage is not for them. Gaylord's girlfriend Grace Lawrence (Rita La Roy) plans to wed Gaylord after getting a divorce from her husband but Gaylord has no interest in marrying anyone. He hatches a simple plan in which he arranges to have a marriage of convenience with his secretary Sylvia Brenner (Constance Bennett) to ease off his girlfriend Grace. While travelling alone in Paris, Sylvia accidentally meets Gaylord's buddy Reggie. Initially she is reluctant to go with Reggie but later relents in the absence of any love from her so called husband whom she really loves. When Gaylord comes to know about Reggie and Sylvia, he realizes that he really loves Sylvia and this makes Grace berserk as she is outraged at both Gaylord and Sylvia.
The lack of morals in this movie is one of the series of several controversial projects that the studios considered during pre-code era. This may be compared with other movies such as MGM's "Divorcee" starring Norma Shearer. Sure, sin takes a holiday in this dramatic portrayal of love and betrayal where Constance Bennett gives a good performance, but she is actually at her best in romantic comedies as we have seen her on Topper, Topper takes a trip, Ladies in love, and Two-faced woman. Despite the controversial nature of the movie, Ken MacKenna and Basil Rathbone have done a splendid job.
