CD Reviewed:Pandit C.R. Vyas: Tapasya, CD Vol. 2
I have been listening to Pundit C.R. Vyas for more than two decades and I have come to enjoy the fine renderings of many ragas. Guruji has a unique voice; it is soothing for the soul and rejoicing for the mind; it is totally immersing. There are two ragas on the music CD, one is Shuddh Kalyan (alap, vilambit khyal in ektaal - Saadhe sur saadhe, and drut khyal in teentaal - Sohi rijaave); and the second is Raga Bihag (alap, khyal in Madhya laya teentaal - Le ja re ja pathikawa). Shuddh Kalyan is performed for an amazing 54 minutes and it feels like you want hear it again and again. Punditji' s legacy lives on forever; God bless his soul.
